^ for Google Chrome
Like most browsers, Google Chrome keeps all your browser data secure in a file that it encrypts and keeps on your computer.
In that file the browser stores detailed information about your browsing history and login credentials for all the visited websites. But this only applies for the cases in which you willingly allow the browser to record that login data. The purpose of this file is to store the credentials on your computer so when you revisit a site, you don’t have to re-enter the information.
This though can have a disadvantage. If you’re not used to writing down your passwords and usernames for safe keeping, and you forget them, then you need to recover all the information.
